The art of a perfumer is based on olfactive skills and memory, a sound knowledge of raw materials and the effects they create when blended into a composition.
In this intensive workshop we will explore the technical as well as the creative aspects of fragrance creation and olfaction.
We will be spending time working on olfaction techniques, developing and exercising skills in memory and recognition, fragrance family groups and accord creation into creating a complex composition (or a few variations compositions on your theme!).
We will also get to know better some very special ingredients and play a few games in scent recognition.
You will need to bring a pen and a notebook to record your impressions. An extensive range of raw materials and equipment to create your perfume will be provided.
Class maximum: 10 people so that you will get a personalised experience.
Location: Rendezvous Hotel, corner of George St & Quay Street, Sydney NSW 2000 Opposite Central Station and Railway Square
Experience to share:
Jocelyn has 12 years experience in teaching to a wide variety of audiences and loves to share her (encyclopaedic!) knowledge of raw materials used in fragrances, medicines and cosmetics. She lives for lightbulb moments in her classes and workshops and is inspired by the creativity of the people she works with. She has taught workshops exploring creativity and scent, learning and scent, perfume creation and cosmetics design to adults and children since 2013.
Rather than a didactic approach, her focus is on collaboration; nurturing your creative and technical skills. You will come away with new ideas and inspiration to keep exploring the beautiful world of fragrance.
She has been working as a perfumer creating fragrances for Cult of Scent and projects for private clients since 2009.
Jocelyn has been a member of the Societé Française des Parfumeurs since 2010.
